O'Neill Clan Association

On May 4 2007, a group representing O’Neill interests from across the globe traveled to Setubal, Portugal to meet at the ancestral home of Hugo O’Neill (The O’Neill of Clanaboy Chief of the Name). The meeting paved the way for the creation of a new organization called the Association of O’Neill clans.

The Association decided to base its principles on the Gaelic traditions of Ireland, traditions that have continually inspired and been embraced by our ancestors. The association believes that, in order to preserve our clan’s traditions and historical legacy to Ireland and the world, it is essential for O’Neills from across the globe to protect the many sites associated with our clan’s history, and to truly understand our shared heritage

Historical preservation and education are the guiding initiatives of the Association. The Association of O’Neill Clans intends to develop a unique and lasting clan organization by utilizing the values of our forbearers to help conserve not only O’Neill history, but also to embrace our living inheritance.

The Association of O’Neill Clans will facilitate the needs of those communities in Ireland and abroad that have searched for a greater understanding of the cultural and historical individuality of our O’Neill identity. The Association plans to create a parent branch in Ireland with chapters established across the world.

We believe that the way forward for our clan is not only to remember our clan’s extraordinary achievements in the past, but to build on the accomplishments and triumphs of our combined clan and its individual members today.

The one factor that has persistently facilitated the survival of the House of O’Neill throughout the many centuries has been its people, and the ingenuity and natural talents of its individual members. The time has come to ask you to please join us in creating a new chapter in the future of the O’Neill Clan. If you share in this vision and/or have talents that will assist in the continued success of our clan, please register your interest as a member and/or volunteer with the links featured below.
