McKane & Lyons Genealogy: My Irish Ancestors

McKane Coat of ArmsMcKane & Lyons Genealogy contains my ancestry plus many other genealogies whose lines intersect at some point. The lineages of most interest to me include McKane, Lyons, Beggs, Cook, Sherman, Moore, Blain, Gawley, Gauley, and Kirkpatrick. For a complete listing of surnames, click here.

James McKANE (1799-1877) and Elizabeth LYONS (1808-1892) immigrated to Chinguacousy Twp., Peel Co., Ontario from Tyrone or Londonderry Cos., Ireland. They brought their children James (1832), Thomas (1834) and Elizabeth (1837). Mary Jane was born here in 1846. Elizabeth Lyons' parents, James LYONS and Elizabeth Hewson had six children and purchased a farm next to the McKane farm in Ontario some years earlier.

The McCain/McKane/McKean DNA Study Project have proven that I am part of the Clann Maceain whose roots include a large number of spellings. This Clann hailed from Argyll, Scotland.
