  • Iona Abbey & Clan Donald - Clan MacDhomnaill Galloglaigh “Ard constapla coicidh Uladh” = High Constable of  Ulster to “The O’Neill” Kings for three centuries : 1300-1600.   Incorporating much about the Macdonnell Galloglaigh of Tyrone and Armagh, Galloglass under the Blackwater  (also as MacConnells, MacDaniells; includes branch of their “MacEoin” – as MacOwen, MacKeon around Annaghmackeown, Parish of Donaghmore, Dungannon).  MacDonnell’s main seat was NW of O’Neill’s Dungannon just past “O’Donallie” the hereditary Ui Neill Marusgal (Military Marshal). They were part of the Lucht Tighe (Lo-Tie), the ancient Household Guard of O’Neill before the MacDomhnaill Gallowglass took that role.
